Semеnovskoe Gorge

Semenovskoye Gorge, located on the northern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, 40 kilometers away from the resort town of Cholpon-Ata, is a place of breathtaking beauty. The gorge stretches for approximately 35 kilometers and offers unique natural and landscape attractions.

The gorge is traversed by the Ak-Suu River, a mountain river with pure glacial water. Majestic Tian Shan spruce trees adorn its slopes, adding even more charm to the gorge. At the upper part of the gorge lies the beautiful Suuttoo Bulak Lake, situated at an elevation of 2450 meters above sea level.

During summer and spring, the air in Semenovskoye Gorge is filled with the aromas of alpine herbs, making walks here truly inspiring. The gorge is one of the main attractions of the northern coast of Issyk-Kul and is a must-visit for anyone exploring this region.

In summer, yurts are often set up in the gorge, where visitors can sample delicious dishes of Kyrgyz national cuisine, such as kumys and beshbarmak. For enthusiasts of active recreation, horseback rides through the gorge are organized.

Semenovskoye Gorge is also home to the abandoned health resort center “Chernobyltsy.” Sometimes, athletes come here for training to acclimatize to the high altitude and mountainous terrain.

To reach Semenovskoye Gorge, one can travel by car, but it is preferable to use an off-road vehicle to fully enjoy its magnificent landscapes and attractions.
