From Steppes to Summits: Exploring Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan

 After having Rest, we head to the heart of the Zailiyskiy Alatau mountains to enjoy stunning views and experience unforgettable emotions.

The first point of our program will be the famous ski resort of Shymbulak. Ascending higher and higher on the cable car, you will hold your breath while admiring the panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains. It seems as if the whole world lies at your feet!

Shymbulak is not only a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts, but also a wonderful place for walks and relaxation. Imagine: you are walking along the snow-covered slopes, breathing in the crystal clear air and enjoying the silence of the mountains. And if you want adrenaline, you can always go skiing, snowboarding or tubing.

After a busy program in Shymbulak, we will go to another peak of Almaty – Kok-Tobe. The ascent on the cable car will give you even more unforgettable impressions. From a bird’s eye view you can see the whole city as if on the palm of your hand: sparkling skyscrapers, cozy parks, winding rivers – all this creates a breathtaking panorama.

After breakfast, we will depart from the Алматы and head towards the magnificent Charyn Canyon, approximately 220 kilometers away. The scenic drive will take around 2-3 hours, allowing you to soak in the beautiful landscapes along the way.

The Charyn Canyon is a true natural wonder, renowned for its stunning rock formations and vibrant colors. We will have the opportunity to explore the canyon and walk along the banks of the Charyn River, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking scenery.

Following our visit to the Charyn Canyon, we will continue our journey towards Kaindy Lake. The distance from the canyon to the lake is approximately 180 kilometers, which will take around 2-3 hours to travel. Kaindy Lake is a picturesque oasis nestled amidst the mountains, offering crystal-clear waters and captivating surroundings. Located at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level, the lake was formed in 1911 when an earthquake triggered a landslide, creating a natural dam that flooded the valley with water and formed the enchanting lake.

After taking in the beauty of Kaindy Lake, we will make our way to the village of Saty. Upon arrival in Saty, we will settle into our accommodation at a cozy guesthouse, where you can unwind and relax after an adventurous day.

The total distance covered on this route will be approximately 370 kilometers, with a travel time of around 5-6 hours, creating an exciting and immersive journey through the diverse landscapes of Kazakhstan.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will embark on an adventure to explore the breathtaking Kolsai Lakes.

The Kolsai Lakes are regarded as one of the most stunning natural treasures of Kazakhstan. Situated at altitudes of 1800, 2250, and 2700 meters above sea level, these lakes offer a unique and diverse landscape, characterized by a watershed mountain system. Each lake boasts its own distinct beauty and charm, with crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountain peaks.

We will begin our exploration by taking a leisurely stroll along the shores of Kolsai-1 Lake, immersing ourselves in the tranquility of this picturesque setting. The serene atmosphere and captivating views will allow us to truly appreciate the natural beauty of the area. after that we embark on a journey to the charming village of Jyrgalan.

Jyrgalan is nestled in the picturesque Tian Shan Mountains, offering a serene and idyllic atmosphere for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. During our ride to Jyrgalan, we will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, with majestic mountains and lush valleys stretching out before us.

Upon arrival in Jyrgalan, we will settle into our accommodations, which may include cozy guesthouses or traditional yurts, providing a unique and authentic experience. Once settled, we can take some time to explore the village and immerse ourselves in the peaceful atmosphere.

Jyrgalan is renowned for its excellent horseback riding opportunities, and we will have the chance to embark on a scenic horse ride through the stunning mountainous landscapes surrounding the village. Riding through meandering trails, we can soak in the beauty of the natural surroundings and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

In the evening, we will be treated to a delicious dinner, featuring local flavors and specialties. The hearty meal will allow us to savor the tastes of the region and replenish our energy after our horseback adventure.

We will spend the night in a comfortable yurt camp, experiencing a traditional form of accommodation that adds to the cultural immersion.

From Jyrgalan, we will continue our journey to the next exciting destination, Altyn Arashan, before making our way to the city of Karakol.

Leaving Jyrgalan behind, we will drive towards Altyn Arashan, a stunning mountain valley renowned for its natural hot springs and picturesque landscapes. The journey to Altyn Arashan will take us through scenic mountain roads, with breathtaking views at every turn. Once we arrive, we will have the opportunity to soak in the rejuvenating hot springs, surrounded by the beauty of the surrounding mountains.

After enjoying a relaxing time in Altyn Arashan, we will head towards Karakol, a charming city located on the eastern shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. Along the way, we will be treated to magnificent views of the lake and the majestic mountains that frame it. Upon arrival in Karakol, we will have the chance to explore the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. Highlights include a visit to the Karakol Dungan Mosque, the Russian Orthodox Church.

In Karakol, we will find comfortable accommodations for the night and enjoy a delicious dinner, savoring the flavors of local cuisine. The city offers a variety of dining options, allowing you to sample traditional Kyrgyz dishes or try international flavors.

After a hearty breakfast, our journey will take us to the village of Bokonbaevo. Our first destination will be the famous Jeti-Oguz gorge, where we will ascend to a panoramic viewpoint that offers breathtaking views of the entire valley. Get ready to be mesmerized by the natural beauty unfolding before your eyes.

Continuing our exploration, we will venture to the enchanting Barskoon Valley, where two charming waterfalls await us. Feel the mist on your face and listen to the soothing sound of running water as you immerse yourself in the beauty of this natural spectacle.

Our next stop will bring us to the awe-inspiring Skazka Canyon, one of the most popular canyons on the southern shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. Prepare to be transported into a fairytale as we stroll through impressive rock formations and vibrant clay landscapes. The majestic figures created by millennia of erosion will leave you in awe.

Upon arrival in the village of Bokonbaevo, a delicious dinner will be waiting for us. However, the adventures do not end here. Prepare to dive into the rich cultural traditions of the region as we meet with local ethno-musicians and enjoy the beauty of their traditional music.

After an eventful day, settle comfortably in a yurt for a peaceful night’s sleep. Allow the tranquility of the surroundings to embrace you as you drift off to sleep, ready for another thrilling day of our journey.

After a leisurely breakfast, we will head to Lake Son Kul. However, on our way, we will make several stops to enhance our journey. The first stop will be a meeting with a berkutchi – a traditional eagle hunter who hunts with the help of an eagle. We will have the chance to witness an impressive eagle show, showcasing the unique skills of these trained birds.

Next, we will make an atmospheric stop at the Ak Sai Canyons. Here, we will take a gentle stroll to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views. Upon returning, we will have the opportunity to swim in Lake Issyk-Kul, one of the largest alpine lakes in the world. We will then have lunch in the town of Kochkor.

Afterwards, we will continue our journey towards Lake Son Kul. Located at an altitude of 3016 meters above sea level, this large mountain lake is nestled between the inner ranges of the Tian Shan mountains. It is a potential destination for eco-tourism, offering pristine natural beauty. At 29 kilometers in length and a maximum depth of 14 meters, Lake Son Kul provides a truly remarkable sight. We will stay overnight in a yurt camp on the lake’s shore, immersing ourselves in the traditional nomadic lifestyle of the region.

During our stay, breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided, ensuring that we are well-nourished and energized. Optional activities include indulging in a relaxing bathhouse experience to unwind after our day’s adventures.

After a hearty breakfast in a cozy yurt surrounded by the panoramic views of Son-Kul Lake, we will embark on a journey full of new experiences. Today, we will have an unforgettable trip to one of the gems of Kyrgyzstan – Lake Kel-Suu.

Our route will take us through Terskey Torpok pass. The descent from the pass will be accompanied by picturesque views of the surrounding nature. We will stop at a unique waterfall on the Terskey River, which originates from Lake Son-Kul. We will take a walk along the scenic trails and enjoy the sound of the waterfall.

We will continue our journey towards the city of Naryn, where we will stop for lunch at a cozy local restaurant. After lunch, we will head to Lake Kel-Suu, which is called the pearl of the Ak-Sai Valley. Surrounded by majestic mountains, the lake impresses with its crystal-clear waters and tranquility.

In the evening, we will arrive in the Kok-Kya valley and stay in a cozy guesthouse on the banks of the Kok-Kya River. Here, we will be warmly welcomed and enjoy a delicious dinner.

After a leisurely breakfast filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and homemade pastries, we’ll embark on our journey. Today, an extraordinary adventure awaits us – a horseback ride to one of Kyrgyzstan’s most picturesque locations, Lake Kel-Suu.

Nestled in the scenic Aksai Valley of Kyrgyzstan’s Naryn region, Lake Kel-Suu is a true natural wonder. Situated at an altitude of approximately 3500 meters above sea level, just 20 kilometers from the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, this high-altitude glacial lake is surrounded by majestic cliffs and mountains, creating a breathtaking landscape. Kel-Suu was formed in 1980 as a result of a landslide that dammed a river, resulting in a unique lake that has become a symbol of nature’s power and unpredictability. The lake is renowned for its vibrant blue waters and crystal-clear surroundings. Its vicinity is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, as well as unique geological formations, attracting nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Upon arrival, we will spend several hours immersing ourselves in the stunning scenery and tranquility of this peaceful place. Weather permitting, an exhilarating boat ride across the crystal-clear waters of this unique lake awaits us. Alternatively, we can explore the surrounding area, discovering remarkable natural formations and local legends associated with this serene location.

Afterward, you’ll be treated to a descent back to camp, where a delicious lunch featuring Kyrgyz cuisine, filled with the aromas of fresh herbs and local produce, will be served.

Following lunch, we’ll continue our journey and head towards the city of Naryn and then drive to Kochkor village where we’ll conclude our day and enjoy a restful night in a cozy guest house.

After a delicious breakfast, we’ll head to the capital of Kyrgyzstan – Bishkek. The journey will surprise us with picturesque landscapes, where mountain peaks harmoniously blend with the vast expanses of green meadows and small villages.

Upon arrival in Bishkek, we will check into a cozy hotel, where we will have some time to relax and recharge after our eventful adventures. This will be a great opportunity to freshen up and prepare for the evening program.

After a short rest, we will embark on a sightseeing tour of Bishkek. You will be able to enjoy the beauty of the main attractions, such as Ala-Too Square, where a majestic monument dedicated to the country’s independence and a flagpole with a huge state flag stand. We will stroll through picturesque parks and narrow streets, immersing ourselves in the atmosphere of local culture and architecture. Don’t forget to take some bright photos for memory!

In the evening, we will gather for a farewell dinner, where we will raise a toast to the amazing memories and new acquaintances we have made during these unforgettable days. We will be treated to delicious Kyrgyz cuisine, which will allow us to celebrate the successful completion of our journey.
